Ventriloquial Sonic Laser

    Ultrasound lasers (sasers?) work because the frequency is high enough to keep sound from spreading out much. I was wondering what would happen if two sasers were pointed at the same spot on a rough but non-absorbing surface? Could the interference patterns of two ultrasonic waves create audible sound from a distance?

    Thanks. I had no idea this was implemented already. I wonder if the speakers can be a portable size. Then one could have a battery-powered device one speaks into that would literally give the power of ventriloquism.

    Yeah, it's been done. The maths is a bitch, but the guy that developed the solution used the complimentary solution to the problem, which was simpler, and it worked.
