Venice v South End on Sea weather

    I note that all this week South End on Sea will be hotter than Venice. Why? Surely, Venice should be far warmer as its nearer the equator.

    No. You might notice the mean Winter temperature in the UK and at the same latitude in continental Canada is very different. Why? The sea, in particular the Gulf Stream/N.Atlantic Drift.

    Venice is stuck at the top of the Adriatic and feels less maritime influence than the UK, especially if the wind turns northerly. When I was there last Easter it was snowing in the Piazza San Marco.
