Many years ago a knowledgeable friend gave
an estimate of the minimum value of a well
executed oil painting by a little known artist.

He expressed it as x dollars per square foot &
suggested using this estimate when buying a
painting at a flea market or garage sale.
I forgot his estimate, which is probably not correct
    now.

Does anyone posting here have a thought?

Maybe $20 per square foot? I collect bad art though, wouldn't pay more than $5 total.

I don't know, what does a Thomas Kinkade painting go for?

Gotta love that Kinkade factory art......reminds me of the gulag stuff from the PRC.

    Thomas Kinkade :Gag:

Anyway, if you really need an estimate for insurance purposes take it into a local gallery. I'm sure that someone there could give you a reasonable appraisal.
