It has been mentioned an upgrade to the v-bulletin will be upcoming or at least considered. In my view then I feel asking members if they agree that an upgrade to v-bulletin will be interesting or at least somewhat imaginable as favorable. I would like to see an upgrade. The forum may then be more interesting (to say the least).

Therefore the poll. Please vote yes or no to the poll question.

What's there to upgrade? Things are working efficiently without bugs. Maybe a background that's less white. Maybe offwhite.

New v-bulletin software was supposed to be coming within the distant future as evidenced by the thread I present below.

You wouldn't have to upgrade vBulletin for that. Simply install more skin packages, and the clients could chose a favorite color scheme within their own board preferences.

.....at any rate, I'll vote "yes". Especially if it leads to more board-related playthings (like UI changes, avatar setting, profile tweaks, etc).

It all can be done now as well, but it's not because of a particular style of this place.
Besides it would be risking new bugs and heavier load on the server.

Any way, you can ask Plazma, I'm just saying.

I've the current version of Vbulletin on my forum www.chatsoba.com I've been testing it a bit and well there is quite a few new bits and pieces and of course options. (And before you state it, yes I picky some gawdy colours, they look fine on my laptop and probably burn your eyes out your sockets on CRT's)

While it is possible to just upgrade, it does have some potential problems. The forum's here have been running a long time and they've upgraded from older builds. This means there could be certain quirky problems in the transition.

It would probably be best to install the new software and run the old one in parallel, just rig the old one to "Read-Only". Obviously this method could allow for the reshaping of the forum in it's entirety, while maintaining an archive of peoples posting history.

I wish I could state with one voice what the game plan is, however that's all up to the owners.

Need a few more votes before we get any results.

I agree, but it might be worth a try, see what Plazma thinks.
