    From this post,

    So who would win.

Personally I think an M16 outclasses those Fed phaser rifles.

A bayonet is way better than a Klingon badly designed sword substitute thingy.

And the Feds would be too bound by moral codes to retaliate when the CIA backs Marquee terrorists groups and the USAF saturation bombs Fed cities.

lets see, weapons which can do anything from stun to vaporise, can apply their effects to a wide area, and which have virtually unlimited ammunition.

instantaneous transport over distances up to 40,000 km

personal sensors that can detect just about everything around them

personal shields, or at least comm badges that can be made into them

oh, and spaceships, obviously star trek has no chance against the contemporary US military

Which they can barely hit anything with. See above video.

Which cannot even transport through rock.

No use unless looking for ambushes. Doesn't matter, as they won't have them out 24/7.

    Proof.

The U.S. has anti-orbital weapons. They started making it a few years back when China tested them.

Besides, if a squad of WWII troopers got on the E-D, nobody would survive.

The video which is not as a whole representative of the series? anyway, i see them having most of the same problems contemporary troops have, which is people hiding behind cover.... besides the scene of picard firing the hographic tommy gun doesn't exactly tell us anything about trek accuracy does it?

Just one question: how will they disarm WWII weapons ?

    :bugeye:

I thought you meant from a distance.

What's keeping the troopers from massacring the ST crew when they try to get their weapons ?

you can remove the ammunition while there in the transporters pattern buffer.

being stunned by a phaser would also be effective in massacre prevention though

Are you making that up ?

That would be a fair fight.. no telling who would come out victorious.

no. They have shown the ability to deactivate weapons with it. they have also shown the ability to remove objects, even bacteria and viruses from a person with it. So it stands to reason that if confronted with them, they could remove ammunition from a gun, and from a soldier

    *shrug*

    Not with conventional weapons.
The bacteria an viruses were removed using DNA matching. Good luck trying that with an MP40.

i'm sure there have been other instances where removing objects was done intentionally, but the only one on memory alpha is a recollection chakotay had of an incident where his clothes stayed in the buffer and he came out. now just about anything that can be done by accident can be done on purpose... any way tier going to be behind a forcefield, and they could just transport the weapons away sperately.

Star Trek is based on scientific data, when Star Wars is just purely made up...

    It's still made up.

The Force be with you? how lame...meanwhile Star Trek's teleporter is actually from a scientific quantum entangled particles theory
