I am an ex-serviceman and have never personally known anyone with such low morals, and my officers wouldn't tolerate any kind of low standards. It's a perversion that the US in particular is world reknowned for. In Iraq they just went on a killing-spree. I'm not out to bash the US, but it's time they kicked this denial thing they have going on and got to grips with the problem.

Yes, I've been shot and stabbed but If you want details of blood I've shed, I'm not going there. It was a grisly business.

Any good soldier worth their salt will tell you that when you've been up against people like these, you develop a healthy respect for them as fighters. The battles are savage enough, you're just glad to get out with your life when its over. Stuff like this just makes the enemy even more determined. It gets people killed.

Then why did Colonel Thomas Collins if the US Army already apologize? The pictures are damning enough. There is testimony from witnesses.

if it was made up... and the military didnt apologize.. what do you think would happen? admit to somthing that may not have happened or just ignore it and say no comment? whats the lesser of 2 evils

all because one pastor thought his fairy tale was right and there fairy tale was wrong.. pretty terrible and the worse part is the stupid fuck pastor denies that he was the reason they were killed when the killers stated thats why as far as i remember.

    @ scifreak:

Care to give me one single reason why I ought to "support the troops" in their barbaric and criminal endeavors? And mind, I'm hardly a supporter of fashionable "nonviolence," I have other reasons for opposing these wars; in fact, I contend that a commitment to "pure" nonviolence is racist, classist, and statist to the core--and naive, to boot.

It certainly appears to have happened. We have no reason to think it didn't.

The thing of any battle is that you're putting squashy bags of blood and guts in the way of jagged bits of metal going a thousand yards a second. Once the shooting starts it's a personal battle to try and stay alive. A lot of men will loose that battle despite their training and best efforts. There is no glory in that. To then go and deliberately do something that makes things even worse is way beyond stupid, it's criminal to my mind.

freak, do you realize how reprehensible it is for you to make excuses for this?

you are trying every excuse possible and that is very immoral. how can anyone unless they have no conscience try to make excuses for this?

you are so busy trying to defend the reputation of soldiers in general, you don't give a shit what happened to this boy or the others who were killed just out of fun or maliciousness. these lives mean nothing to you.

this is how you do it, freak. imagine yourself as the father of this 15 year old boy while they killed his child and then proceeded to act like it was no big deal while desecrating him and taking photos. you major asshole.

They say that 5% of combat troops does 90% of the war killings (+/-). Some people just like to kill and they make fine good soldiers, generals do everything possible so the other 90% picked a killing slack, success was never great. Either you are born to kill or not, it's genetics. Maybe if US troops had a real war going in Afghanistan to satiate 5% of psychopaths in uniform they would not be "forced" to "entertain" themselves, but there is no real war, urges to kill are strong, rules of engagement/killing are vague and permissive, Police State USA is thousands miles away. In other words, temptation is overwhelming.

If only those maniacs had enough of common sense to kill for private pleasure not for public awe, there is nothing to stop them, nothing. And there are plenty of "joy to kill" soldiers in the wild doing just that - entertaining themselves privately.

You may wave flag until you drop dead, but those boys are coming home with taste of blood in their mouth and they liked it.

I disagree that theses are isolated incidents by sociopaths who slip through the psych testing. Defense (including the ADF before someone accuses me of anti US bias) appears to have a culture that just like the mob, undermines the empathy of its members. Members of the ADF have even been accused of sending death threats to the minster when he tried to stamp out the rampent sexual abuse in the services. I know lots of solders and there attitudes show a significant drop in empathy. Contrast that with the police which has its own issues of coruption ( even endemic coruption in squads of the vicorian police such as the drug and organised crime squads) but it is quite rare for this sort of dehumanizing behavior. The only case which springs to mind is Rodney King's murder. Every shooting by a cop is invesigated to find out if it was apsolutly nessary, if there were anyother options, could they have used Capsicum spray or tasers, could they have backed off. Every shooting must be proven to be justified. Defense is the exact oposite, its concidered that any killing is justifide unless proven otherwise. Further more we have people such as yourself criticizing the limited investigations that there are. Personally I think its apaling, the Police put there lives on the line everyday of there careers where as the solders sit around nice and safe in a baracks until its time to go out and kill someone. There has to be a better way, hell there are mob killers with higher moral standeds and we allow these people to recruit in our schools, when people are at there most vunerable in terms of there emotional and higher reasoning development which means that they are easierly brain washed into the culture that life is unimportant and killing is okay. You then do all you can to remove the solders from the front line where they would be forced to confront the conquences of there actions and you make it like a video game. Hell resident evil probably forces pepple to see more gory details than some solders will see in the whole war. Its no different from the way gangs recruit.

Personally I look at the cops who ran up the towers to save lives and I contrast it with these systemic abuses and it sickens me that there deaths is being used as an excuse to unleash these sociopaths on anyone.
