Just what is,Computer Science first of all ?

    By google it said:

Definitions of Computer Science on the Web:

The systematic study of computing systems and computation. The body of knowledge resulting from this discipline contains theories for understanding computing systems and methods; design methodology, algorithms, and tools; methods for the testing of concepts; methods of analysis and verification; and knowledge representation and implementation.

The systematic study of algorithmic processes that describe and transform information: their theory, analysis, design, efficiency, implementation, and application

? Study of the implementation, organization, and application of computer software and hardware resources.

The study of computer hardware and software.

The discipline that is concerned with methods and techniques relating to data processing performed by automatic means.

A study of computer technology - design and application of computer hardware and software.

    Science & Technology

the branch of engineering science that studies (with the aid of computers) computable processes and structures

Just how many of those definitions do we satisfy as a forum?

Is this a true Computer Science Forum?(That includes all the posts here...)

It's a Computer Science and Culture forum. Most of the posts follow along the culture line rather than the science.

Why? Care to start a rousing thread about Pentium OpCodes or anything?

most of the posts here are about computers, but computer questions and computer science are totally different subjects, but the go together. Like nexus said, there aren't many threads about complicated code or procedure. Most are "how can I amake a pacman game on VB" which is simple high school indroduction coding. I know people who can make a Pacman game in less than an hour with all the fixings. I am not bad too, but I am better at networking and I get better at hacking every day. I have fixed countless bugs at my school library, and I may be getting a job at a computer cafe this summer. Very fow people here are very "good at computers" and I understand that it is not everyone's priority, but I would like to see more real comp sci threads.

haha.. good quote malkiri. to me computer science is just descrete mathematics of computation. algorithms and proofs for algorithms, and spacial and temporal complexity, kind of boring if you do it for too long

, well, you do have the fun part of unpredictable systems, neural networks, ALife and the works, but those too are governed by mathematics.
