Personally I have nothing against a person wanting end his/her own life. But that's not the point. A person can only be committed involuntarily, when they are a danger to society and objectively all persons are part of society, even if when considered " self". In such cases, forced counceling and medication is warranted under law, lest they become a burden on society, potentially for many other reasons than just a 5000.00 burial at tax payer's expense. Many people have tried to commit suicide and when unsuccessful still managed to live a long relatively happy life through counseling and medication. Any treatment they received was apparently successful in the end.
