I liked it too. Only criticism I might offer would be that the SF and the hexagons are too close in shade. Well. Two criticisms, actually. It doesn't fit in the box... Hey. You must be thinking outside the box. Neat! Heh.

Excelent - so, that's 6 nominations for Mr Anonymous. My word, chaps. This really is most encouraging - thank you. Thank you all.

The first thing I notice is a competition of space going on between two ideas that are inconsistent in their effect: the honeycomb pattern with a fat "Sf" (San Francisco? Swiss franc? Science fiction?) splashed on top, and planet earth with the sizzling comet nearby. I'm not linking both ideas (is there a message?), and both graphics don't interplay, hence I attribute the honeycomb pattern as being gingerbread to the "Sf"—froufrou. Immediately following the honeycomb pattern I notice the fat letters S and f. The letters are inscribed onto a pattern like white chunks floating in milk: the whole thing together feels thick, ad-lib, and frivolous, and would seem more appropriate on a jar of honey. The whole effect is imperial and hangs like a spider-web over the planet, vying for the space allotted for the graphics. I assume this is the logo. But because of the crammed space it is fighting to grab our attention away from the approaching comet: the background scene and the logo have nothing in common hence I attribute the background scene as gingerbread to the logo—froufrou. As for the fat, vanilla serif font (and another inconsistency there with "SciForums.Com" written out formally (why?) in title caps, why? and mismatching the small "f" in the logo itself): FrouFrou. And yet, speaking of rampant inconstancies, over the course of an astonishing degree of choices displayed you yourself appear to have never even once considered adopting the user-name Whatever - quite despite the manifestly obvious and appropriate nature of the term in relation to your given posting style in general... But thanks for the thumbs up anyway. Always appreciated, even if it is from you. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
In the official poll, the current logo is a clear front-runner. Interestingly, the unofficial poll has it equal with number two (the illusory triangle) which appears in the same place on both polls. Odd. They are both beaten in the unofficial poll by the solar system logo and the original logo, but not by much (particularly given the low voter numbers). All very interesting! The official poll closes soon, so get your votes in! My take on the current situation: - The logo "storm" has settled. - The current logo is acceptable in the unofficial poll, and a clear leader in the official poll - There are no strenuous objections to the current logo In summary - The logo controversy has passed. Other logos might be "better" (I personally prefer #2, among several others), but the current logo is both acceptable and becoming established. Unless anyone raises strong objections, I suspect that pseud0 will make the obvious choice to run with the current logo.

This is insanity. The current logo is ridiculous. What the hell relevance does a saw blade have to this site???? k riiiist
eiiiiiiithenkyow.... Actually, agree with you completely. Rough stab at the thing, broadest possible strokes. Once you're getting somewhere with a design, then y'fiddle with things. Trick is first off is to find where the ball park is. Thanks for the thumbs up. Appreciated. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Mmmmm.... You'll also note there's no option in the official poll whatsoever for "None of These Choices." The currently used logo possibly provides an not entirely satisfactory but adequate alternative. Ermmmmmm.... no. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Doesn't matter. It's just a logo - essentially an abstract symbol. But, if you really feel strongly about it, now's the time to drum up support for an alternative. The administration will make a choice soon, and the longer the current logo stays up, the more established it becomes.
Yes, I agree. And I suspect that that might be the best we'll get, unless Pseud0 makes a bold executive decision which will probably infuriate large numbers of members no matter how appropriate the decision happens to be! (SciForums is like that Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!).
I have absolutely no idea what you're indicting me with here, old chap, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with rough sketches (preliminary direction of a design) but sounds more like you're harping about GUI: something that works into the second draft of a design once the general look is established and approved. Anyway, what does any of that have to do with my critique of the honeycomb cereal label? I mean, everyone here said yuck to various designs… without bloody offering a decent and technical reason to back up their reasoning—or should Pseud0 move these logo design threads into the, uh, Pseudoscience section for good conscience-riddance and easy gratitude? You're candidness is refreshing—like the honeycomb compound. Oh? Is the this your chef-d'oeuvre?
Thanks. With all due respect to everyone, we could all try a bit harder. I could fall off a cliff and the resulting splat would make a better header/logo than the current one.
