Is science a coherent body of knowledge or a big confusing thing ever more obscure?

For those who have a knack for it is merely a way of thinking or an extension of one's mind. For those who do not have such a knack it is quite apochryphal.

why do you think science is taught in school? how do you think your computer was built? by a bunch of confused people?

If you read some of the things i wright, you will see that i defend science. I love science. Most scientits are super-specialists of their fiels. They know very little about other sciences. It's even worse for non-scientists. Most people find science confusing. How does a paleontologist recreates a skull from a tooth? Light can be both wave and particle; when electrons "jump" they disapeer until they reach an orbital; an electron can go trough two different holes at the same time (Quantum phisics). Science can go against intuition. This is why scientists don't understand everything they explain. Do you think a computer scientist Knows everything about the nature of the piece of matter we call computer?

ok, if y'all will just heed this bit of advice when approaching the sciences...you'll be just fine and dandy.
just remember..that there really is no fixed reality, no underlying truth, but rather, ONLY relative truth & knowledge adequate to the circumstances that generated it.

    With respect, that's postmodernist rubbish.

If you think the laws of gravity are a social construct and are only relatively true, try jumping off a cliff some time. Perhaps you won't fall...
