She probably bleeds acid like the creatures in the Alien movies.

You and I are of like mind on this. I was so happy when his wife got killed off, I knew then that his annoying step-kids would be gone in short order.

I think all DVR's have that same limitation.

I watched the first two seasons of "Earth: Final Conflict" and gave up. I hated it, especially since they killed off the lead actor after the first season, and I really liked him! The series was lame and confusing and should never have made it to five seasons.

"Farscape", is of course, the best scifi series ever made in the history of mankind. "B5" pretty close to the top as well.

"Universe" I'm still watching on account of the fact that It's fairly well made--if poorly written--scifi. Damnit.

And, of course, I hated the original "Star Trek" as well.

This show had the single best two starting seasons of any Roddenberry creation. Look at "TNG", "DSN", "VOY" or "Earth Final Conflict" and none compare. The premise was solid, the acting great, the writing and FX were top notch. But when the production company fired Robert Hewitt Wolfe, the series's original producer and writer, the whole show took a nose-dive. The elegant and engrossing story arcs went away and we ended up with three seasons of pointless meandering and lame plot devices.

My younger brother loves "No Ordinary Family" and the boyfriend loves "Dark Angel". I watched the first several episodes of "Kyle XY" and thought it amusing and I never understood "Lexx" all that well.

I'll take your word for it on those ones. I tried watching that series last year where the kid was the Devil's son and his parents had to give him up to do Satan's bidding once a week (or somesuch). It was amusing but ultimately forgettable.

I thought that was an okay show. Not great, but watchable.

Agree on Farscape. I own the entire series on DVD and still watch it regularly. I think that the new Battlestar Galactica would be the second best (even though the ending sucked). Firefly would have been a contender if it had lasted more than half a season.

I liked SG1 and Atlantis. I gave up on Universe.

I'd consider myself a sci-fi geek, but I've never understood the worship of the original Star Trek. It was cheesy and lame, which doesn't necessarily make it bad, but certainly precludes it from being great.

    And Lexa Doig is hot.

I love Lexx, but I'm honest enough to admit that it's basically dirty jokes and porno-humor that happens to take place in a sci-fi setting, rather than actual sci-fi. Kinda like how The Thin Red Line was a movie that takes place during war rather than an actual war movie.

I always wondered why they had to come up with a name for her characters on TV shows. "Lexa Doig" is the most perfectly wonderful sci-fi/alien name I've ever heard.

She did a couple of episodes of one of the Stargate shows, met Michael Shanks, and married him.

Charisma Carpenter is another great name, a character on "Buffy" (which I never saw) who ended up as one of the stars on "Angel" (one of my all-time faves).

As far as I can determine, both of these are their real names.
I'm glad someone else felt that way about it. It was well-produced but the later episodes were more innuendo than plot.

The end of Farscape sealed it for me- D'Argo crying about John and Aeryn. Made me a mite tearful meself. Very heart-wrenching.

The send-off movie was one of the best TV movies of all time. I own it and force my boyfriend to suffer through it on a regular basis. The ending was perfect closure, not too specific, but good enough to know that the story went on and on.

Right now the consistently best show is The Good Wife. Among the newcomers, The Deffenders (I like Belushi) and Terriers.
...and I hope Dexter picks up eventually....

I remember reading somewhere that "Lexa" is short for Alexandra or something like that. She was a doctor on SG1. Maybe on Atlantis, too, but I don't recall.

If you liked Angel, you should check out Buffy. I thought it was far better. And Charisma Carpenter is even hotter than Lexa Doig. Even at 40, she's ridiculously good looking.

True. The earliest episodes (which were called Tales From A Parallel Universe) had better story lines, but the later episodes were a lot funnier.

    That makes sense.
    Yes, same character.
Did, and didn't. I liked the characters and the plotting on "Angel" better. Frankly I couldn't stand the title character in "Buffy."
A good actor can't help making his character(s) a key part of his personality. Rommy was a really interesting character, from her very nature as a phenomenon to her post-Data attitudes, whereas Cordy was eye candy and comic relief right up until her (admittedly killer) final appearances. But I'll call it a toss-up and request a lengthy interview with each of them, perhaps lasting several days, before I make up my mind.
A common syndrome in TV series. The first couple of seasons are very inventive, and then the idea has been completely exploited and it sinks into sitcomhood.

Shows that manage to transcend that fate are rare and memorable: Star Trek TNG, Renegade, JAG, Dinosaurs!, Santa Barbara, Breaking Bad, Highlander, Duckman. Those are just most of the ones I liked, obviously there are many more that are just as good literature that you folks liked but didn't happen to catch my fancy. But all in all they're few and far between; there isn't necessarily one on the air at all times.

Some of the ones that use up their fuel of motifs and sputter out take a while to do so and are quite good while they last. "Third Rock from the Sun" comes to mind.

Dexter will end with his own execution, hopefully. Thats how this show should end.

Dexter finally picked up, delivering the best episode of this season. The guy running away in plastic wrap was hillarious.

Anyhow, I actually bought the new book, and for those who are not familiar with the books, the storylines are completely different from the series. Sergeant Doaks is still alive, although mutilated, and so is his wife. (alive)

Fuck. Don't read them. They smell like ass.

I actually just started watching The Walking Dead. Nice! I read the comic and it's way sick to see it in movie format. Great show so far.
