If there truly is NOTHING awaiting me after physical death, I will not know it: it will simply be a pleasant sleep devoid of dreams. true existance means you do not need other conditions to exist, not food, air, water etc. you just exist forever and never die. in dictionary, subsist is used with the preposition ON, you subsist on air, food , water etc. to survive. clear?
