Trot line went in this morning.
Gonna paddle out and check it in awhile,
after i build a fire in the fire-pit.
Cooking fresh fish outdoors on a wood fire is great fun.
Asparagus came up 3 days ago, and next week after Tuesdays promised rain, we should see morels.

I really do love this season, pussy willows, flowers blooming, things that are good to eat popping up out of the ground, fishing, cooking outdoors on a wood fire... can leave the doors and screen doors open as there ain't many flying bugs......
"Is this heaven? Naw this is Iowa", but it's close enough

I'm disappointed. I was expecting this thread to be about Far Left politics.

...but maybe iceaura will turn up.......

Wading in the water and reaching under a river bank to find holes that may or may not have a catfish or more dangerous critter in residence. If you find one the discussion gets frisky if they're of any size. It's a game lunatics and Southerners play. If you go at the crack of dawn zombie catfish haven't woken up completely yet, and they can be rudely awaken by being tossed on the bank.

    OK
My wive's grandfather was a communist, more precisely a Trotskyite, as was she in a younger day.
He quit after the "new deal" saying that they had gotten all that he had hoped for---and lost all of his commie friends in the bargain.

    "trot" was new to me

    Ha ha.

But it's not entirely a joke. The guy running Jeremy Corbyn's office, Seumas Milne (son of Alastair Milne, quondam Director -General of the BBC,) actually IS a tankie! He may be running the country a couple of years from now, along with the Marx Bros.

    (He went to Balliol, obvs.)

Explosives are like violence. If it doesn't work you're not using enough.

Around here beaver dig holes back into river banks. Also otter, and mink. They bite.
Yes, a flathead bites. But on your wrist more - and much smaller teeth.
I'd limit my noodling to logs and the like. Stuff that's definitely under water.

Up here the first migration just went through, and there's still snow in the shade, ice on the still water. The lilacs don't look eager - morels pop with the lilacs, rule of thumb. I just put the hummingbird feeder out couple days back, in case. But I've been cooped up mostly.
