Exercise. AM as opposed to PM preferably. :EDIT: Just came across this: https://ca.style.yahoo.com/post/141252915200/10-try-tonight-tactics-to-help-you-fall-asleep
Read something that has nothing to do with your daily life. Chinese history used to do it for me. Then, I got interested in the subject--------- lately---drivel in the new yorker does it. No tv nor computer for at least 1-2 hr. before bedtime-more is better.(something about the light of the screen?) or, wait until you get old----at my age, a nap is like a vacation. Worrying about not getting to sleep is great for keeping you awake.

I have several techniques that I employ. 1] Silence each and every inner voice*, one by one. See how long you can go without any verbal thought intruding. While you're keeping them at bay, watch the muted fireworks on the inside of your eyelids (Not metaphorically, I mean literally, watch the spots and flashes in front of your closed eyes). See if you can spot patterns. *yeahyeah - insert jokes about what are the voices telling you to do Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! 2] When I was still in grade school, they taught us a technique to associate a word with relaxing my body, and then had us practice this. My word was 'eyeball' ]HE\ vo v u9 Sorry, drifted off there for a minute... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Now, when I need to sleep, I can say that word and instantly relax. 3] Choose a well-known task that has many steps. Run through it. Use the same task every time. Mine is assembling a 1/72nd scale Revell F4 Phantom from when I was a kid. My wife's is running down the checkout list prior to getting underway on our boat.
