He often sounds like hes trying to repeat sentences coming in through a brain implant...and listening simultaneously. Marlon Brando used that technique on a few of his later films, because he wouldnt bother memorizing his lines. Hes pretty sharp in a one on one encounter though.
Thats not how you win elections. Everything before monday morning is a blank for the average American. Actions...what actions? Just make me feel good with stirring platitudes.
I'm guessing those are people killed in Iraq ? Yeah, i've seen similar pictures around the web. His actions caused the death of millions of people. and wounded many more. The families of those no. in the thousands and are not willing to let anyone forget.
I can't stand him or his speeches, but to call it ignorant babble is taking it too far. I can certainly understand what he is saying. It isn't babble. His speeches are a lot like gym teacher morality lessons - I had some pretty shallow unpleasant gym teachers, my apologies to the others. By this I mean cliches, disconnections between the content of a particular sentence and the emotional 'expression', complete certainty (or perhaps 'complete certainty' since he conveys this rather than expresses it) in what he is saying, and very abstract appeals connected to often non-specific actions. Is it fairly contentless manipulative pap or targeted persuasion? yes, it is both.
It is not like your book hasn't caused millions of deaths as well. Religion of peace indeed... Oh wait, they weren't muslims, because they didn't interpret the quran like you do. I always hated the way Bush talks during speeches, for some reason... I can't stand his voice.
I think his appeal to a certain group is based on the fact that he sounds just like a "regular guy" not like the Ivy-League educated, aristocratic, child of privelege that he is. I think it's probably a cultivated delivery (although it is possible that his handlers just picked up on this aspect of his personality/speech and taught him to use it to his advantage).
A couple of years ago one of our members said he had lived in Texas when George II was governor. He said that in TV interviews at that time, he sounded much more intelligent and educated than he does now. I have not corroborated that. I'm a little reluctant to walk up to a Texan and ask, "Hey, did your boy always sound like an imbecile?" Whatever the truth is, this is a classic illustration of the pendulum swings that rule American politics. Our last president was a Rhodes Scholar.
