Problem is, the SCOTUS currently has a conservative (and religious) bias... I honestly have no faith that it would be able to serve its intended purpose of upholding Constitutional values...

Kitt: I'm just presuming here that (the above) is just your opinion, lest you provide factual evidence to support as facts. Regardless, it is OK if you don't recognize July 4th . . the rest of us will . . might I suggest that next year, you celebrate May 1 instead? BTW: You misspelled America! HAHA! . . . . MAGA!

You can't help but make yourself look foolish, can you...

"provide factual evidence to support as facts"... what are you even attempting to say? Your command of the English language is par for the course for a Trump supporter, I guess...

Celebrate Labor Day? Okay...? Not sure if you had a point there.

Nah, I didn't misspell Amerikkka at all - once we stop being a country run by WASPs, we can go back to being a respectible nation called America - until such a time, Amerikkka it is.

MAGA - Make America Grovel Again? Yeah, you're doing a pretty damn good job of that

Then again, I notice you failed (utterly and entirely) to even address the topic of the post... rather sad, all said and done, but again, par for the course with you

    . . . . so does the Constitution . . . . have a conservative (and religious) bias . . . . .to paraphrase, were we not "endowed with certain unalienable rights by our Creator . . ."?

That's not necessarily god, and it's not religious.

May 1 is not Labor Day, commrade! Likewise , I note your posted comment had little, if any, to do with your OP link, IMO. I agree . . . rather sad!

And yet we have such things as Article 6 of the Constitution:
"no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States" (interestingly enough, this was the ONLY mention to Religion in the Constitution until the Bill of Rights was adopted)

    and the First Amendment:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

Then there is the 14th Amendment, which introduces the concept of incorporation of all relevant federal rights against the states. In simpler terms, thanks to this enforcing the First Amendment, no state can impose a religious test (whoops, guess what, that bill is automatically unconstitutional now!)

Thomas Jeffersons comments on the issue include:
"I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State."

Despite what you may wish, we are NOT a "Christian Nation".

Actually, it is in many countries:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Workers'_Day#Americas

Your "commrade" comment shows your incredible ignorance, given that:
You do realize that there are other countries besides the US, yes? Or are you simply so arrogant as to ASSume that only US holidays matter?

And I have to ask - how do you wish to say that my posted comment had little to do with the OP, given the context provided (ergo, that laws like this are eroding the very freedoms and, indeed, the very foundations of America)

Either add something to the discussion, or begone ye foul little troll.

SO . . . who(m) do you think (IYO) the founding fathers were referring to as our "Creator" within the context of the narrative? Allah? (or pick another). Don't worry, Kitt and Spidey . . . I tire of this thread anyway . . . later! [Also IMO, I would suggest that posting language be a bit more civil, or require Sciforums to state a disclaimer requiring only those over 18 years of age can access/read the posts. ] HAHA!

So drive by trolling that adds zero context... got it. I've got just the solution to that

It is irrelevant who the creator may be - it could be Lauren Faust for all the relevance that has on Constitutional law

    The op is a sham.
St. Louis Alderwoman Megan Green, who sponsored the anti-discrimination ordinance, ... says that as the bill stands right now, she's not concerned about its potential to allow the discrimination her ordinance sought to protect women against: "It does not seem to do anything to our local ordinance."

Would you please make sense? The Declaration of Independence is cool and all, but it's not binding law, and I admit I'm hard pressed to see what it has to do with the Constitution when even the Constitution doesn't have to do with the Constitution. Remember, the one part of the Constitution that is not binding is the part that tells us what it is for. In ignoring the purpose of the Constitution, it is in fact possible to create a conservative and religious constitutional bias, as Americans have done for centuries.

They were definitely avoiding reference to the Christian God - that was explicit, in the debates over the language of that document, as well as the Constitution (even more thoroughly nitpicked, by very well educated and deeply concerned men including Christian ministers and Church officials).

The vocabulary and phrasing of these documents in American history was in no case careless, slipshod, accidentally vague or conflicted, etc.

Oh? Do you have anything whatsoever to back that claim with? Or is this another of your "Nope, i don't like it so I'm going to say it's false" moments...

The words and opinion of St. Louis Alderwoman Megan Green should suffice.
Anyway, the Missouri senate hasn't addressed the issue yet, so all hyperbole aside, the op is an obfuscatory sham, which has little to do with reality and a lot to do with ...................................................(fill in the blank)

Again, do you have anything whatsoever to back this with (perhaps, I dunno, a source of these words?)

You do realize that the fact that this has made it through the House and preliminary Senate hearings... yes, there is a chance that this foolishness could be vetoed and left for dead, but the fact that it has made it this far is cause for concern in and of itself.
