    It isn't always about power over future events. Many forms of the occult and magic concern the power of language to synchronistically alter the course of events. There are states I periodically go into that predispose me towards certain events and discoveries over others. You express the aspects of your nature that externalize themselves as specific themes or motifs. It is a spiritual mode of being, no less than mysticism.
