This is me cycling to Queen Elizabeth Country Park to do some training. I go there to run up and down Butser Hill. Butser Hill is about a hundred feet away from being officially classified as a mountain so it's a bit tough. Plus it's a 12mile ride to get there. Nothing beats it and I've got 8 more months to do it until I sign my life away. Joy!

 

Thor, who are you signing your life away to in 8 months?

EDIT: Ah, just found out. The British Army. You say you are an armourer? What "branch" of the Army do you want to go into?

Hi there Cottontop, nice to come back to some new dedicated posters (not much actually happened just before I left...only an invasion of WesMorris'...is he still around??).

Anyway, I am signing my life away to the British Army. Becoming a mechanical engineer and working with firearms. Nothing beats getting paid to work with guns. Maybe getting paid to do nothing would taste a little bit sweeter.

Is the British Army broken down into branches like the U.S. Army? As is Infanty, Armor, Quartermaster, Signal, Intelligence? Hear, all branches have company-level armorers. There is no "Armorer" branch though.

Yay, WesMorris is still here. Him and his disembodied head. Such memories.

Yeah, the BA is broken down into various whatnots and it's surprising how similar the two armies actually are. I will be training up for an armourer position but I am still unsure of the inner workings of it all. I will be part of the REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) and I'll probably be working alongside people from other areas as being an armourer is counted as being a 'tradesman'. Guess I should really find that one out. I'm not fussed, just want to be posted in Germany. Would be sweet.

How about being paid to sit on yer butt alongside being paid to do a job? Double your money.

Ye gads man. It's like paintball only you use replica firearms that launch BB pellets at some poor sod. Pretty damned fun.

So, what's the story behind the name 'Cottontop3000'.
