Despite being in darkness for months, air temperatures at the North Pole, will rise above freezing for only the second time on record. Instead of usual 20 degrees Fahrenheit below zero, the Earth’s most northernly region will likely see temperatures of about 35 degrees Fahrenheit, or 2 degrees Celsius today. All because the storm system that last week spun up deadly tornadoes in the American southeast.
