Sometimes i see the typical "X Vs Y" Thread here, so i decided to create my own: wich one would you consider the best mage? Raistlin? Elminster? Gandalf? choose!
I haven't read Moorcock. From the rest Elminster is probably the most powerful there but that is because magic is extremely advanced in the Forgotten Realms. Mages throwing fireballs around seems common.
Raistlin, if you take him at the height of his power, was a god. If you take him as he died, he was an ordinary human. Depending on the rules of this matchup, he seems likely to me to be either the clear winner or a clear loser.
belgarathPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Not only is he so powerful he can rip apart mountains if he wants to he is a typical "dirty old man"Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Rand Althor from the Wheel of Time series was supposed to be able to melt entire continents - but he used a special artifact to enhance his powers enough to get to that point, so I'm not sure if that counts.
Belgarath is the sourcer from david eddings "the belgarian" series. There was also a book specifically about him (Belgarth the sourcer) and his daughter (polgara the sourcerss). He is imortal and bloody powerfullPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! and he is a dirty old man who chaces skirts and drinks LOTS of beerPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! BRILLANT series didnt like the wheel of time as much, Nasor, hey did you know that robbert jorden is dead but that he put all his notes in order for the last book so that someone else can write it. They are currently in the proccess of doing it but there is no realeace date yet
While we are all naming our favorite powerfull wizards, Pug (The Magician) should get a mention. The last Wheel of Time book is due out next year some time. I'm really looking forward to it. I have to know how this series ends. A Memory of Light
Didn't know of this... However,,, just to fry someones nuts in, Author J.K Rowlings books where adviced with a code of 666. I know this is rememdial numerology, but you're nearly on the count of 666 posts.. i found it... ironic at best.
shaman_ wasnt his son marcus more powerful than him? not to mention the evil wizard who they kept killing only to have him come back again and againPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
his new series is on the both of them. To be honest i dont like fiest terribly much and only read it when i have nothing better to do
I'll probably read it just to find out how it all ends, but in my opinion the series has been going downhill steadily since around book 5. It turned into some sort of perverse Zeno's paradox where the plot keeps moving more and more slowly as the series goes on, so that even though you're moving forward through the pages you aren't actually getting closer to any sort of ending. If I could send a mesage to myself in the past, I would probably tell myself to stop after book 3.
