Well, what are the questions that the situation suggests? They need to make sure that he didn't lock her in there. They need to make sure that she wasn't previously disabled and intentionally neglected. That this outcome isn't the result of some sadistic exploitation. That he did not knowingly neglect a psychiatric issue. Barring any specific evidence, there won't be any charges. But look at those last three paragraphs of the source citation. So let's go ahead and give the benefit of the doubt and presume that accurately represents the situation. Still, doesn't it just sound strange? And no, I haven't seen Idiocracy.
The most bizarre news story I have ever read http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_8547307?source=most_emailed
it actually sounds like REALLY server agrophobia (or she was fat and lazy sorry didnt read what her weight was) which is definitly not her BF's fault. Actually the frist thing PB said when she saw this is "how the hell did HE go to the toilet"
Wait, there's more. Here's the video of the news story: http://www.kake.com/home/headlines/16607911.html
Update & Commentary Source: CNN.com Link: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/03/13/woman.in.bathroom.ap/index.html Title: "Boyfriend: Phobia caused woman's 2-year bathroom stay", by Associated Press Date: March 13, 2008 The update: The commentary: Often in society, people engage the question of the Samaritan vs. Cain. What do we owe our friends and neighbors? Am I "my brother's keeper"? McFarren's words offer a stark example of what happens when we side with the justification offered for a mythical fratricide. It is good that McFarren at least recognizes he erred in waiting too long, but the relationship between human adaptability and apathy—"... after a while, you kind of get used to it"—is at least mildly unsettling. As to a solution to the general challenge presented by this episode, I'm left for now borrowing Dominic Holden's words: "I don’t know what to say except, parents, please don’t beat your kids." ____________________ See Also: Holden, Dominic. The boyfriend, who did not seek assistance for all of this time, must be nearly as much of a nutcase as the woman.
The Menagerie ... for, well, okay, some of your bizarre news needs For the record, this tale was included yesterday in The Menagerie. And there's a tragic twist to this "most bizarre news story": I should also mention that the latest update we have suggests that the woman's refusal to come out of the bathroom was caused by a phobia derived from childhood physical abuse.
which bit exactly? As for agrophobia (which im sure it is) you cant force someone suffering an axiaty related disorder to seek help. Hell it took me 4 apointments to actually GET to the shrinks and that was my choice to actually go (i made the apointments and i wanted to go). If its someone else telling you you HAVE to go thats MORE likly to induce a panic atack

Two-fer time: Anus and the Suicide 'Bot Two-fer Time! Sometimes the headlines speak for themselves Every once in a while you come across a headline that says it all. Now, let's be clear; three outlets, one source. That original source is the Australian newspaper The Daily Telegraph, who posted the headline, "Pensioner gets bum's rush on op". In London, The Sun went with, "Leg op woman gets bum deal". Okay, so you know this is going to be bad, right? In the United States, FOX News dispensed with the jokes and headed up the story, "Woman Goes for Leg Operation, Gets New Anus Instead". • • • What was it Eric Idle sang on the cross? "Always look on the bright side of life"? An elderly Australian man apparently disagreed. The headline for Fran Yeoman's story for The Times is fairly straightforward: "Man, 81, kills himself with shot from 'suicide robot'". Jack Kevorkian, eat your heart out. ____________________ Notes: FOX News. "Woman Goes for Leg Operation, Gets New Anus Instead".
