Somebody who had respect for the scientific method wouldn't keep pretending he hasn't been proved wrong time and again using that very method. He also probably wouldn't feel the need to repeatedly post disproven conjectures (i.e. stuff that he knows is bullshit) all over the internet, or to spend years having the same conversation over and over again, just with different people.

    Classic troll behaviour.

Im not sure why we tolerate this, even in the conspiracies section. But I suppose it gives some people some fun, digging into the latest absurdities to debunk them, rather as I do elsewhere with creationists.

Hahaha, dude you don't even know what the scientific method is! You are probably the craziest of all the conspiracy nuts I've ever seen posting. Your "research" follows two paths, first it ignores in entirety the official version of any event, then seeks out idiotic conspiracy shite for your "evidence". You follow no scientific protocol to verify/disprove any of your sources.

You have no qualifications in any scientific field, you wouldn't recognise the scientific method if it hit you in the face.

How would you know? You are the one who automatically assumes a conspiracy. Your only goal in that last post was to once again highlight with links, two of your favourite insane conspiracies. You are a forum troll who doesn't know when they are beaten, probably because of this:

I have the idea it's to do with pot boiling footfall for the ads on the site.
Something like, why Magical Realist has been around for so long on this site, he's regularly called dishonest and a liar by a mod,yet still around. Someone has a soft spot for MR.

Could be. But I've often noted that a sprinkling of cranks and nutters can sometimes stimulate interesting discussions about science, in the course of correcting their crazy or misinformed ideas. For instance, Trevor "Ballocks" Johnson posted a barking mad thread about lightning the other day, which prompted me to look up a paper outlining the various rival hypotheses, none of them yet confirmed, for how charge separation occurs in thunderclouds. Apparently we still don't really understand the mechanism.

When I posted it on this forum nobody bit, so took it to another one, where an interesting discussion ensued. Amusingly, in the present context, Trevor BJ subsequently joined that discussion and inserted more of his nonsense - and got himself banned!

That would be me, I guess.

MR is an excellent example of what goes wrong when you don't learn how to think critically (or belligerently refuse to do so).

Since there's a whole community of believers out there, just like MR, he also provides us with opportunities to educate the wider public on the many errors and pitfalls that arise with such thinking (or lack thereof).

Censorship is only necessary when a lie is being defended. If a theory is wrong, it will fall by its own lack of merit. A lot of people who get banned from forums for politely arguing "conspiracy theories" and analysing them are being censored because they are right. Most discussion forums seem to be under some kind of control from above somewhere.

On the other hand, spreading malicious misinformation can cause all sorts of problems. There's no requirement to provide a platform for lies, misinformation and propaganda.
Not necessarily. Some ideas, even though wrong, are very hard to shake off. And some people will dig in to defend their beliefs long after they have been shown to be untenable. Bad theories can sometimes last for years before the knowledge of their falsity becomes widely distributed (assuming that happens at all).
I don't think so. I think the people who are banned are mostly the ones who ignore disproofs of their conspiracy theories (or who won't acknowledge the lack of supporting evidence). They tend to be trolls who post the same bullshit to multiple forums, for instance, merely to try to spread the word, even after they have been carefully informed as to the many reasons their pet theory fails.

There's little point trying to have a debate with somebody who holds a belief that is immune to the impact of disconfirming evidence. There's also little point in humouring a troll who pretends to hold a belief, all the while knowing it is false or otherwise unsupported by appropriate evidence or argument.
Yes. Forums are owned by people or corporations. People and organisations that own stuff usually exert some control over what they own.

There's no Illuminati, if that's what you're driving at. Or, at least, there's no good evidence for any such organisation. (But, then again, if I was a member of the Illuminati, I'd say that even if I knew it was false, wouldn't I? See, this is the problem with conspiracy theories: they make themselves immune to disproof with ad hoc special pleadings and pseudo-explanations for everything.)

A false statement and your entire post is your goto cut and paste cry baby response. In your case it would be because you are the one doing the lies and doing so across multiple forums.

All your theories are wrong and they have no merit. I don't think you have ever conceded a single thing, despite some of the most glaring and obvious errors in your repeat claims. If the "merit" of any argument is based on your judgement, did it ever cross your mind that your complete ignorance is the issue?

Says who, you? Have you been logging this data and correlating it with accuracy? That would be the scientific method you see, not some random and inaccurate claim sourced from your weird aspirations.

What a load of woo woo nonsense.

One of the most ironic quotes you make that explains your behaviour exactly - cut and pasted from an old bookmark in 2009(I won't link to it) with you doing the same crap then as you are doing now:

That link is dead. Here's a new one to the same info plus two more.

    4) They tend to operate in self-congratulatory and complementary packs or teams. Of course, this can happen naturally in any public forum, but there will likely be an ongoing pattern of frequent exchanges of this sort where professionals are involved. Sometimes one of the players will infiltrate the opponent camp to become a source for straw man or other tactics designed to dilute opponent presentation strength.
    ------------------------------------------------------
    6) An odd kind of "artificial" emotionalism and an unusually thick skin -- an ability to persevere and persist even in the face of overwhelming criticism and non-acceptance. This likely stems from intelligence community training that, no matter how condemning the evidence, deny everything, and never become emotionally involved or reactive. The net result for a disinfo artist is that emotions can seem artificial. Most people, if responding in anger, for instance, will express their animosity throughout their presentation. But disinfo types usually have trouble maintaining the "image" and are hot and cold with respect to emotions they pretend to have and the more calm or normal communications which are not emotional. It's just a job, and they often seem unable to "act their role in type" as well in a communications medium as they might be able in a real face-to-face conversation/confrontation. You might have outright rage and indignation one moment, ho-hum the next, and more anger later -- an emotional yo-yo. With respect to being thick-skinned, no amount of criticism will deter them from doing their job, and they will generally continue their old disinfo patterns without any adjustments to criticisms of how obvious it is that they play that game -- where a more rational individual who truly cares what others think might seek to improve their communications style, substance, and so forth.

If that link goes dead, copy and paste this sentence in Google or Bing with the quotation marks.

Technique #6 - 'GAINING FULL CONTROL'

It is important to also be harvesting and continually maneuvering for a forum moderator position. Once this position is obtained, the forum can then be effectively and quietly controlled by deleting unfavourable postings - and one can eventually steer the forum into complete failure and lack of interest by the general public. This is the 'ultimate victory' as the forum is no longer participated with by the general public and no longer useful in maintaining their freedoms. Depending on the level of control you can obtain, you can deliberately steer a forum into defeat by censoring postings, deleting memberships, flooding, and or accidentally taking the forum offline. By this method the forum can be quickly killed. However it is not always in the interest to kill a forum as it can be converted into a 'honey pot' gathering center to collect and misdirect newcomers and from this point be completely used for your control for your agenda purposes.

    CONCLUSION

Remember these techniques are only effective if the forum participants DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THEM. Once they are aware of these techniques the operation can completely fail, and the forum can become uncontrolled. At this point other avenues must be considered such as initiating a false legal precidence to simply have the forum shut down and taken offline. This is not desirable as it then leaves the enforcement agencies unable to track the percentage of those in the population who always resist attempts for control against them. Many other techniques can be utilized and developed by the individual and as you develop further techniques of infiltration and control it is imperative to share then with HQ

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
…..I am writing here to come out of the closet as a paid shill. For a little over six months, I was paid to spread disinformation and argue political points on the Internet. ATS was NOT one that I was assigned to post on, although other people in the same organization were paid to be here, and I assume they still walk among you. But more on this later.

I quit this job in the latter part of 2011, because I became disgusted with it, and with myself. I realized I couldn’t look myself in the mirror anymore. If this confession triggers some kind of retribution against me, so be it. Part of being a real man in this world is having real values that you stand up for, no matter what the consequences.

Yes, there's a thriving business from the clueless and gullible, eager to believe absolutely any crap. Videos, dvds, books, tours and the quite crazy convention, where the collective IQ within the audience barely scrapes past triple figures. It amounts to deliberate deception just to make money and the saddest part is it is spreading all around the globe

Not at all. I regularly delete ads for Viagra from the forum I moderate. That's not "a lie." It's just an ad, and ads aren't allowed there.

If you want to see what zero censorship looks like, look at any Usenet group. You will see ads for Viagra, prostitutes, Nigerian money scams, underage porn and get rich quick schemes. No actual content.
Yep. If you come on my forum and argue that (for example) COVID vaccines don't work and will kill you, you get banned - because that sort of misinformation can (and has) killed people.

This site used to have a forum but it disappeared.
    https://english.pravda.ru/

I posted there for several years. I was able to argue any theory I wanted to with no interference.

There used to be another forum where I could speak freely that disappeared called "War on You". I was able to find a lot of good info there that I couldn't find anywhere else.

There were a few posters that seemed to have a few screws loose on those forums but I never saw any of the garbage you mentioned. The view count was high on the Pravda forum. That's probably why it disappeared; people were able to see the posts of serious truth seekers who did serious research and the were finding out about a lot of government lies.

You can argue anything you want on usnet with no interference either, and no readers - because the spam makes it unreadable.
Here's an example of recent posts on a Usenet group.

Could you link to the actual forum so I can click on the links and really check it out? I googled around and couldn't find it.

The two forums I mentioned weren't like that.

Moderator note: FatFreddy has been permanently banned from sciforums.

This user has a long history here (over years) of posting various conspiracy theories that (a) have been debunked, and (b) (more importantly) he knows have been debunked, because the debunkings have been carefully explained to him.

This user does not typically post novel content to sciforums. Instead, he reposts disinformation that he has seen debunked on other internet forums - often in direct replies to his claims.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, this user posted several different debunked conspiracy theories about the virus, the vaccines and treatments, potentially creating health risks both for people who would believe his nonsense and for those who might be put in danger by those people acting irresponsibly.

FatFreddy has proven himself to be an incorrigible troll. There is no good reason for sciforums to continue to provide him a platform on which to spread disinformation that he knows is false.

He won't be back here, he'll just move on to the next forum he can find and act as though he's never discussed any of the idiotic claims he has made. Hopefully whoever he comes up against is smart enough to google his past crazy activities. If he is reading this, I have one piece of advice for him: do something productive with your life!

Hmm. Do you think this is him? This individual has just popped up on the .net site: https://www.scienceforums.net/topic/128102-cold-fusion/

It certainly looks like a kind of scattergun trolling exercise to attract attention. But perhaps there are too many sciency words and not enough emphasis on conspiracy. Could be just another schizophrenic, I suppose, like Beaconator and Trevor "Ballocks" Johnson.
