I hate to start up another discussion like this but honestly, What is wrong with the death penalty? Sure you have the chance of catching some innocent but I say Two strikes rule, you get convicted of murder once and you get the normal sentence, if you ever get convicted again, bang, death penalty.

    Argue.

If you were innocent and got accused of a crime wrongfully then got sentenced to 25 years THEN three years later you are accused of ANOTHER crime wrongfully would you rather take another 25 years and die in jail or would you rather be killed painlessly by lethal injection?

I would spend my time in jail fighting the bogus charges.

Okay but even then, if you were wrongfully convicted once don't you think that they will get MUCH more evidence against you before they send you to death row again?

Each crime must be treated seperately under the law.

I'm just saying the police would do a much better investigation the second time, to assure themselves they have the right man/woman.

    You really think so?
Actually, I think they'd be more likely to assume you are guilty if you have a prior convction and incarceration for murder.

Around here, Parcal, you're talking to gazillions of mamby-pamby liberals who won't ever actually discuss the situation with any reasonable logic based on reality. They would keep even millions of the most vicious of murderers in prison rather than risk one lousy stinkin' person being put to death by accident.

What's wrong with that? It saves money too.

Not if we shoot the bastards when they've been convicted ....instead of letting the sit in prison for 50 years with endless appeals!

No one is seriously proposing that and you know it.

Put them in stasis until their time is up, that way if during the time they are in stasis they are found innocent they can be set free.

Well, we should! When someone is found guilty of murder, he should have two or three appeals, then lower the hammer. Otherwise, why bother with "guilty" verdicts at all?

Only if it doesn't cost much money! Otherwise, just shoot 'em when the guilty verdict is given.

Stasis would be far less expenses for no food , no water, no cell, no problems and no guards needed ever!

I think the death penalty should be issued preventively. If you look like a jaywalker, BANG! We could turn all the prisons into voluntary re-education camps, too.

Well, back in the old days of the Old West, all one had to do was call someone out to a duel ...and sometimes for less than jaywalking! And ya' know what? The nation turned out just fine, didn't it?
