Until circa 1960-1970 (this is a guess by me) there was a clothing store in downtown Philadelphia which specialized in tartan plaid items. Its name was something like Scott and Hunsinger.

It was a successful business, indicating that such jackets were popular in the USA the era from from ??? to circa 1980-1990. I once had a jacket made with Tuxedo lapels which could be removed for informal occasions.

I have not seen a tartan jacket in the USA for at least 30 years.

A few years ago, I decided that I wanted some Tartan jackets & discovered that the prices were exorbitant in the USA.

A Google search discovered a shop in the UK which offered them custom made at a reasonable price. I now have five of them.

Two separate threads on tartan jackets wasn't enough?
