I was having an interesting discussion with a teacher, about the differences in Academically selective students, and normal students.

Academically selective schools tend to be more competitive, and students tend to be more serious. Does this mean that students will not manage in life as well as those in non selective schools ?

On a side note, the normal students seem to know that they don't have as much as the have students, but do they get depressed about it? nah, they just laugh at the situation...

What do you mean 'manage in life'?

Do you mean that since these people are so focused on doing well at school that they will neglect other important parts of their lives, like friends and dating? Or do you mean careers?

I think people who take their studies reasonably seriously have their priorities straight. If they have their priorities straight now, that will probably also be true later in life. Knowing your priorities and taking the time to do things right over the span of a lifetime will have a big impact on your life achievements and success.

Both. People who take things too seriously can be stunted in career growth.

The thing is, some people in the non selective schools do do well, and are better off personally, than those in selective schools who do better, but aren't as well adjusted.

People who can learn are better off than people who think they know it all. In any company they want to teach you "their" way to do things, not the way you learned them in college or university.
