    Would it be possible for us to create a self sustained mirror image of our carbon based life? Possibly one like that bacteria Pauly shore in that Biosphere movie?

    If we could, we could use it for genetic research with less fear of creating a "monster virus" that could wipe us out.

    What exactly would be the "mirror image" of carbon-based life? If you mean "a life form based on left-handed sugars and left-handed enzymes," then yes, such a life form could certainly exist. Now, to build it would be rather difficult with existing technology....
