Code of Ur-Nammu over 4000 year ago

You're missing his point. He's not asking what "wife" is a virgin. He is just implying that no one is still a virgin by the time they get married these days.

In this bloody country, you kill for premeditated murder , What fore is the gas chamber, Injection , or other killing devised.

Since when have this country become so civilized ? How long ago . Remember USA is not the only country in the world , there are about 160 nations

No, I'm saying even if they are virgins before they get married, they aren't after the honeymoon. If your wife is still a virgin, that is indicative of some serious problems.

Yeah, that's really moral. This whole code treats women like property, and so does the Bible.

Like nothing few others besides you do. <yawn> You happen upon things that are WAY out of date for most of the word and then think you've made some grand discovery. Anyone here can go back and look at your previous threads (many of us have done just that) and found your basic intelligence to be very, very weak. Just like this thread - it's 90% pointless and worthless. <shrug>

There is no discovery of mine , I just wanted make a connection that is the past a married woman was protected and virginity was protected. You are an individual who understand things instead expressing your understanding , just did nothing but an irrelevant comment

If you look closely, notice the male is getting killed or has to pay a fine. One would think liberalism would celebrate this, but the conditioned reflex against religion appears to come first, before thought begins.

There is nothing in there about protecting virginity or a married woman - the punishments are for violating the rights of male husbands and slave owners.

Much of that code deals with slavery, which we no longer have - none of it is used at present. On top of that you state that your intent was to show how things were done in the past, not now. Your thread title appears to be completely misleading, both as to content and intent.

In contrast, even though jealous rage is common during infidelity, cheating is legal and not accountable. On the other hand, if you say one of the PC taboo words and this causes a hurt reaction, there is accountability. Why the lack of proportion? It has to do with lawyers preferring to keep cheating as an option.

This brings up the point; why do lawyers get to police their own occupation? They are one of the least trusted professions. Why not have scientists, who are more trusted, police law, so there is better proportion? Religion used to police the law, because priests and holy people were considered trustworthy due to service and sacrifice.

For example, why not have all factories police themselves?

Not so hasty and not all the way.

Manu's code. Manu was the first law giver. You will be surprised how good they are even today.

3.114. Without hesitation he (host) may give food, even before his guests, to the following persons, (viz.) to newly-married women, to infants, to the sick, and to pregnant women.

8.407. But a woman who has been pregnant two months or more, an ascetic, a hermit in the forest, and Brahmanas who are students of the Veda, shall not be made to pay toll at a ferry.

9.89. (But) the maiden, though marriageable, should rather stop in (the father's) house until death, than that he should ever give her to a man destitute of good qualities.

9.194. What (was given) before the (nuptial) fire, what (was given) on the bridal procession, what was given in token of love, and what was received from her brother, mother, or father, that is called the sixfold property of a woman.
9.195. (Such property), as well as a gift subsequent and what was given (to her) by her affectionate husband, shall go to her offspring, (even) if she dies in the lifetime of her husband.

This property is called stree dhan, woman's wealth, and enjoys the ancient protections even now. Effectively, it means that only the children are the legal successors of such property.

2.138. Way must be made for a man in a carriage, for one who is above ninety years old, for one diseased, for the carrier of a burden, for a woman, for the king, and for a bridegroom.

That is not how you treat property.

But don't forget one reality. Every society has been male dominated, even today. You may like it or not, but it is a fact.
