From: http://www.sciforums.com/showpost.php?p=1426407&postcount=36 Ok. What's "sfoft delete"? Are moderators deleting posts that they don't agree with? :bugeye: If that is so, sound like fascism to me. :bugeye:
If you didn't miss the post originally it's obviously not that important. For the most part soft deletes are usually use when clearing up threads from people that have not been discussing the topic and/or derailed it completely.
If you follow that link, the peopel who had been soft-deleted claim that they were having a reasonable discussion, being on topic and without insulting anyone.
These posts could be deleted for any number of reasons. "soft delete" means that the post is removed from sight, but is not permanently gone, they could still be restored later.

Moderators do have the ability to delete posts in their forum. Using that ability to remove opinions different to their own would be a Very Bad Thing, and would probably lead to that person not being a moderator any more. The idea is that no-content pollution like spam, obscene insults, and the like can be removed, and this is generally what the delete feature is used for.
Supermoderators and Admins are able to restore the posts in question if warranted. I've PM'ed James and Plazma, they'll have a look.
Humph, you're just curious to see what you missed. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Anyway just to clarify, I don't delete the posts permanently, so they can be restored if there is a difference of opinion; that was just my way of saying that anyone who claims they were wrongfully deleted should know they are still available for perusal by James or Plazma.
Yes, I am. Is that wrong? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I'm also protecting the rights of those who frequent my threads... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Suffice to say the conversations involved long hard dicks, naked men, pedophiles and one liners which contributed nothing to the thread. Does that satisfy your curiosity? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I just looked at the deleted post. Baron was telling people about his penis. ashpwner told people how he didn't like people in general. There were a couple of other off-topic one-liners with no useful content, and that's about it. As far as I can see, the deletions didn't involve any useful or relevant content.
