    Here's the bottom line.
    First high earning spouse files and suspends payments
    then other spouse files and restricts to spousal benefits only, and gets 1/2 of what high earning spouse would get while benefits(for each) grow at about 8% per year.

    SSA calls this "free spousal" benefits.

    The loophole is plugged at the end of this week, according to all sources. And the online directions for suspending payments apparently befuddle most people.
