    This is a fundamental point...well stated!
    The politician (in government) is employed by the people and has an obligation to ensure all of his employers are informed appropriately. If twitter posts were unable to be edited or deleted and were transcribed in hard copy form for distribution to any who wishes them the use of such chat and gossip mediums such as Twitter and Facebook etc would almost be tolerable IMO

    On another tack, the propaganda inculcated amnesia that bounds American politics is abetted by social media simply through inundation. In that respect "communication" via social media abets deception and swindle, by washing away memory.

    Nowdays it's not just the organized and calculated efforts to drive the Reagan, Bush, and W administrations's actual behavior back into the attic of never happened, although those efforts were startlingly successful - it's also the volume and constant onslaught of new stuff, disorganized and unreliable and largely trivial, that erodes comprehension and the benefits of historical record.
