Finally a reasonable approach to winter national park access! ”http://www.billingsgazette.com/inde.../2002/11/13/build/wyoming/12-snowmobiles.inc” Of course the radical folks on both sides are crying because they didn’t get their way. This seems like a good approach to me-maybe the limits are set too high but it is a good start. I’ve often wondered why the park service didn’t impose limits on snowmobiles years ago. They have no problems limiting the number of river runners in Dinosaur National Park or Grand Canyon National Park. Instead they made snowmobiles a national argument with both sides spreading misinformation and needless hype.
Welcome to SciForums, Zeaper... According to the article, they are limiting the number of snowmobiles; but to higher number than appear to normally use the park in a year? Accolades might be due the administration, but I would withhold judgement to see what the "cleaner, quieter snowmobile" requirements will be, and how that will affect the parks overall. Peace.
