I'd like to know what the most you've ever paid for a pair of shoes has been. I've listed price ranges and ask that you comment why they were worth it or not.

300 US $for the best pair of trekking boots , I´ve ever had .......travelled 1/4 of the world with them , walked in mountains, jungles and deserts ..........worth every penny ....... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! 200 US$ for special black shoes , for my tuxedo ......... not really worth the money ............ but a must I guess ..........

Sorry , posted before the usual Sderenzi poll arrived !!!!!!!!!!!!

US dollars, British pounds, or Euros? I've paid up to 60 pounds but would pay more if I really liked them. I got a nice pair of dress shoes last year for about 35 pounds, reason they were so cheap is that they are made in Brazil, equivalent Italian ones with a fancy label on the sole cost about 130.

You see my friends the reason for this post is due to my bad fortune. I recently acquired a pair of shoes from Kohls (brand Sonoma). They looked rather sturdy and well built, however.... when washing my vehicle I began noticing they didn't feel so comfortable. Naturally I figured it was my imagination... later what do you think happened?......... they are so cheap the dye actually came off on my socks

I was very upset and sadened by this incident.

I did manage to obtain a good pair of Reebocks... good thing those are made well

Any way, I've paid £100 for Lloyd shoes for going to work and £80 for trekking boots.
Have used the latter for some 5 or 6 years now.
Probably will buy new ones after the next hike at the beggining of may.

No problem with the current ones, but they look very worn on the outside and I don't want an unexpected boot failure in a middle of a swamp with the closest footwear shop 250km away.

No, you aren't. It's called paying for distribution, marketing, quality control etc. Actually, they are paid wages that are too low for their production so the corporations can become wealthy and pass on the savings to you in the process.

If there is a ripoff, it's your corporations who jack up the prices so they can pocket most of the profit and the unfair low wages.
