Setting environment variables on Mac and other issues

Hi,

This question might be like really stupid one, but i am trying to set environment variables like by doing export MAVEN_HOME=/usr/bin/xxx and when i quit terminal, I loose all values ... I am n00b at *nix, and I dont know how to set those variables out, can someone help me?

Also on Mac OS X, java is pre-installed, but the issue is that i need to set JAVA_HOME variable and I dont know whats the location of JDK ... anyone know where?

Control panel-system-environment variables-path then add your variables with the full path name, separated by colons. In this way you can avoid interfering with the system environment variables
