I found these interesting, please add to the list if you have any insights in a similar vein... If you're not familiar with the work of Steven Wright, he's the famous erudite scientist who once said: "I woke up one morning, and all of my stuff had been stolen and replaced by exact duplicates." His mind sees things differently than most of ours. Here are some of his gems: Hope you enjoyed and thanks for your input...
Nice. I'm just posting on this to mark it like a dog so I can find it later. Disregard this post - I have nothing interesting to say.
Oh I thought of a contributing comment... Scientist? All I have ever known him as is a stand-up comedian. I just want to make sure we are talking about the same person: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Why do you call him a scientist?
If your car could travel at the speed of light, would your headlights work? yes, but their light would travel the same speed the car is traveling.
Well, my reasoning is impeccable! :m: As I was cleaning my email inbox yesterday I came across a couple of old chain letters from my friends. I thought perhaps one or two worthy of posting here. This being one of those chain letters, and since they are always one hundred percent accurate, I took the lazy route... The only research I checked prior to posting was Googling the name (Steven Wright) and it appears that several sites make this (probable) mistake, here are a couple of Google results: *** Here is another, with even more of his work for your "bloodhound" box: Steven Wright, scientist and comedian, voted number 23 best stand-up comedian of all time. Completely confident at this point, I hit the post button! (bad decision) After your inquiry, I spent some effort on sourcing: However, when I checked Wiki, all I found was a reference to (No mention of the area of study) Then this started to become quite the project as I attempted to track down the nature his degree, all I get are vague references like: Biography for Steven Wright So, in short, I have no idea if he has a scientific background... On the other hand, he does appear to have some acting credits in addition to his stand-up comedy: Including an Oscar award: These credits are from his "official website" - http://www.stevenwright.com/history/index.shtml So in summary, he may or may not have scientific academic credentials, but he does seem to be a heck of a comedian and a decent actor as well. P.S. - Thanks for the catch one-raven and last time I post chain letters in SF without checking sources, even in free-thoughts. I'm too addicted to being right all the time... Course, I'm also addicted to laziness Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
The best way to see the world in a different way is to drop acid. Lots of acid. Preferably blotter straight to the eye. Maybe that's why your science-comedian-actor-stalkee is amusing. LSD fixes everything.
No duct tape makes things stick together. LSD makes everything seem like it's melting. Things that are melting are always better.
While kind of lame, this might work... Other than that, I see that the paranoids have surfaced... Are you telling me that no one here can come up with a single tid-bit in the same vein as Steven Wright? Shame... This is an intelligent community? Thank God for Draqon...
I bought some powdered water, but I don't know what to add. I got food poisoning. I haven't decided when I'm going to use it. Last year I drove across the country with my friend. We split up the driving - we switched every half mile. We only had one cassette tape to listen to the entire time. I can't remember what it was...
Pretty sure I got the third one, but let me tell you, you don't forget that tape... True story: First time I visited Europe from the States, (southern Germany to be exact - Girlfriend had family there, went for a wedding, yadayada...) Anywho, we discovered that , at least at that time (very early 80's), all we could find was oompah polka music on the radio. One of us had inadvertently ended up with a Steely Dan cassette in his luggage, so we listened to that tape every day, over and over for 3 1/2 weeks - not likely that I'll ever forget it...
