    At some point, the question of legality comes up: these bulk book money laundering scams have been busted before (for a very minor example one of my local guys , and not a bad guy overall), and gaming the bestseller lists is a kind of grey area in the law even if it does not involve political contributions.

    The pattern is familiar and has come to seem normal, as recently in the marketing of Ann Coulter's later books (with the huge advance sales quietly pawned off into specialty book clubs or returned to origin). But this example, involving a state governor actually resigning to buy in, and millions of dollars of obviously political leverage focused on a single politician, is a bit raw.

    Palin fought the liberal media, the McCain campaign, and the broader GOP establishment. That endeared her to millions of Americans. She modeled her leadership on the Biblical Queen Esther, who pulled off a long-shot gambit to save the Jews from an oppressive king. When she stepped down as Alaska's governor this year, Palin quoted Esther directly in reference to her own political future: "If I die, I die."
    Palin is awesome!
