So much for the "everyday hockey mom" image. reports say she and her little posse basically cleaned the place out. I mean really she is supposed to hate Hollywood and yet you acted in a manner that would make even the most spoiled diva in town cringe what does that say about her? I mean really is this the way any respectable person should act?

I mean shit most people learn at Halloween one piece per a person.

Who cares? She's not even a political figure any more. She's a FOX news commentator. Much ado about nothing...

a person involved in political discussion isn't a political figure? really much to ado about nothing about how a person who claims to believe in getting by on ones self acts like a selfish little brat

No. I'm involved in political discussions on a daily basis and I'm not a political figure.

The idiot that no village wants

I think giving Sarah Palin attention at this point is a bit like encouraging the retarded kid at school to shit himself in class on a dare.

If she had a penis she'd be president already.

    Sarah the Impaler?

I don't know. A Bush joke goes here, but I'm unsure whether to work with "eight is enough", or suggest that if Dubya had a penis, he still would have been just a dick.

Flip a coin. They're both low-effort punch lines, and I still refuse to put the effort in.

So a gossip columnist said something about a person taking lots stuff that is given away for free to anybody and. . . um. . . wait? What the hell is the point again?

Theories are like straws, sometimes easily grasped

As near as I can tell, making fun of the retarded kid. Or, rather, his mom. Who is also retarded. Or something like that.

It's a bad economy, and it's wartime. People need some comic relief. It's good that we have people like Palin, who are willing to thoroughly embarrass themselves and offend large numbers of people on a regular basis. That way, people have a focus for their frustrations.

Or ... yeah. Something like that.

In other words, I really have no idea. Maybe it's one of those things we just need to remember, in case she really is dumb enough to run for office in 2012.

    Rogue Hottie?

I know, I know. Is it any wonder so many conservatives think Sarah Palin is hot?

This is more of a "Free Thought" than "Politics" thread, then.

Don't get me wrong, the more fowl and evil the joke, the better. Especially when it's about Palin:
Q: What's the difference between Sarah Palin's mouth and her vagina? A: Only one of the things that came out of her vagina is retarded.
But, of all the issues to identify about her, this one seems so. . . so. . . non-issue-ie.

    I know ....

In the context of the political arena—e.g., if she runs for office—this sort of behavior undermines her in multiple ways. It wrecks her folksy charm appeal, challenges her "egalitarian" appeal (anti-"elitism"), and reminds people that, no matter how hard her handlers might try, they just can't make her a genuinely intelligent person.

The thing is that if she does run for office, her supporters don't care about this sort of thing, and when people refer to her past behavior, there will always be one allegedly informed, objective, "nonpartisan" who apparently has no fucking clue what people are talking about. Pick one: objective, informed, nonparitisan—there's a reason I use the word "allegedly". But when scrutinizing Palin for consistency as she makes her pitch, there will be plenty of people who think highly of themselves who either have no clue what's going on in the political world, or are just trolling the discussion in hopes of slowing down the criticism. It happens all the time in American politics. Haven't you ever watched the pundits on cable news and wondered how these people, who apparently work in relevant fields, are so goddamn ignorant? I mean, why can't I be a paid expert? Or have a show on MSNBC? I have more of a clue about American politics than, say, Ed Schultz. And who is that guy that MSNBC hosts bring on for a Republican viewpoint from time to time? I can't remember his name. He's just this geeky, self-righteous dude with glasses who can't be bothered to be honest for two and a half seconds. Hell, compared to him? I could be an expert, too.

Compared to what's coming if Palin makes another bid for office, it's probably useful to have some sort of index on hand so one doesn't need to scour for references to episodes that are only obscure to the one allegedly objective, honest, informed nonpartisan in the world, who also happens to have no clue.

But at this point, there's no real emotional gratification to noting Palin's idiocy. Kind of like Bushisms, or Liz Cheney. After a while it's like, "Well, it's not like that was unexpected."

And it's one of the reasons people get so frustrated with one another. I could hardly care less about this, or the bit where they had to use canned laughter when Palin was on Leno the other night, but I know that people are going to be expected to forget about her past if she runs for office again.

Or, as one of my favorite bands puts it, "I know how all of this goes. The wine and the laughter flows. You put hand into the flame. You put hand into the flame, and watch it like a movie."

I can believe it, but so what

Well ... take the claim for whatever it's worth. The first report came through the Kos.

I mean, sure, I can believe it, but so what? Canned laughter is fairly common. It only matters if someone tries to claim her Tonight Show spot somehow demonstrates her popularity among Americans.
