I can understand how Alaska would be ours and some of the Gulf of MX. But can't MX drill the Gulf and other countries drill in the Pacific? Can we just put a platform right up against another countries or is there a international law deciding that?
basically Denmark, USA, Canada, Russia will divvy up the spoils per usual - meanwhile the Earth melts and most civilization around the equator come to an end.. ...
Yes and its done today already with the advent of a way to make the underground oil rigs pipes to actually turn 90 degreesto tap into another oil well that may be a half mile away.
Yep, we (Denmark) have an expidition going there to prove that it is ours. So forget it, the rest of you Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
That means the Moon, Mars and Venus are ours because we planted flags on them first....I THINK NOT!!!
Not according to any law I have seen. In fact, teh last time this came up it was clearly shown that, according to international law, Russia has no claim to this land. You say it is Russian by law? Prove it. Show us all the law that supports this.
Don't you think it a little ridiculous in the sense that the Polar Ice cap retreats enough for submarines to explore the land beneath it because of fossil fuel usage and that the immediate idea anyone gets is how to exploit this new territory for getting yet more polluting fossil fuels out of the ground. From what I remember the Russian territories already have a wealth of resources that are currently not exploited, the problem is who is allow to exploit and who has true legitimacy. Technically Airline flight flyover the pole all the time to get too/from the airports they fly between through designated commercial flight paths. This means that those paths exist for the most part in 'International Territory' (Which doesn't mean any single country has claim, but it's International claimed by all) If Russia was to try and claim the pole 'Illegally' (This means not taking other countries proximity or legal reasoning into account) then they would just be acting a bunch of Pirates.
Bush already claimed space as US property, why can't Russia claim an area of the arctic? atleast they will have a better claim than the US did in regard to space.

Russia didn't claim the whole Arctic, allright. It claimed the land which is a continental elongation of Russia federation land (Lomonosov ridge). You speak of something called legal and illegal? At such measures of power that which is legal or not has no meaning, NATO made something illegal to do? well why is that? because NATO wants whats best for them...same goes with USA and Canada...they all want a piece of the pie, so they proclaim something legal or illegal. It is Russian land now and nothing will change that.
It's neither legal nor illegal, the area is international. There is a claim in progress, and Russia has made its entry, if it is correct the Lomonosov ridge will be Russian. However, if Denmark or Canada; can make a counter argument then so be it, but so far the only country with substantial evidence for a claim is Russia. If the other countries fail to provide their own proof by the deadline; Russia will get the territory.
too bad....we could have had even more greenhouse emissions given that byproduct of hydrogen economy is water release and water is a major greenhouse causing molecule
Except water is naturally occuring and has a cycle where-as CFC's and Nitrates are man made and don't.
cycle or not...if it gets too hot before the cycle can recycle it...were just as fried as kentucky fried chicken.
Why is that "too bad"? Still hoping to have space programs gain initiative as a result of the earth being screwed? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
