I almost passed up my one opportunity to see him perform at a jazz festival more than 20 years ago. Man, he burned the place up and I was glad I went. You could look around in the crowd and see people from 8 to 80 tapping their toes and swaying back and forth. The guy was just a stone cold genius as a composer and a performer - Drown In My Own Tears is just about my favorite blues song ever. I know it's true Into each life Some rain, rain must pour I'm so blue Here without you It keeps raining More and more America has lost another one of its national treasures.
Wow. That just hit me in the face, I hadn't heard a thing all day. Not my type of music, but damn he was a legend nonetheless. R.I.P. Ray. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Unbelievable. You'd think ol' Ray woulda lived forever. I didn't spend too much time jammin' to Ray, mostly during the Blues Brothers movie. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! But he was a master of his instrument and influenced a lot of music. The world's not going to be the same without him.

That's the best in the city Chicago. Jake: How much? Ray: 2000 bucks and it's yours. You can take it home with you. As a matter of fact, I'll throw in the white keys for free! :m: Peace.
I actually felt a twinge of sadness over this news. I felt nothing over the news of Reagan's death. His cover of Don Gibson's I can't Stop Loving You is one of my favorites.
Shame he`s gone. Not my cup of tea but the guy was a legend Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I was thinking the same thing. And it's a shame that Reagan's death has overshadowed Ray's. I hadn't heard about til I tuned in here. I flipped to the news after I read it here, and hadn't seen a single thing about Ray dying. I wasn't reading the ticker though. It was probably down there at one time or another. Notice how comfortable it is to say Ray? To call Reagan Ronnie or Ronald just doesn't seem right. There's something to be said about being the kind of guy where people can use your first name like that. Good ol' Ray. Gonna miss him.
