Maybe Roy's father replaced the handle on Roy's grandfathers axe and then Roy replaced the head on his grandfathers axe sometime after that. There is nothing in the quote to indicate that the grandfather has passed/died and that Roy only has memories of him. Ergo, it might still be Roy's grandfathers axe.

Hehe.....it sounds good but it's an odd thing to say. When you're die your memories only live on in the people who knew you. And they may remember you fondly. But for he who dies there is only total oblivion.
