I am busy investigating a news story from the 70`s for my blog, and I am just trying to tie up some loose ends.

The one theory i have about this incident (dont wanna go into to much detail), was that a meteor hit the ocean about 100km SE of a small island. The resulting explosion was registered at 3 kilotons.

What effect would that have on the nearby island? Would it form a tsunami and swamp it?

    Hey,

Sorry, more info and questions in regards to this post. The reason I am asking is because I am trying to find out if SA tested a nuke in 79. All evidence shows they did but i need to find a way to prove it. If i went to the test site today (it was an ocean test) would the area be radioactive? or would the ocean have cleaned up the mess by now?
