    On the lighter side:

A Ukrainian man was driving up the road when he came upon a Russian tank sitting quietly on the road, with the tank crew lounging on top.
So, he stopped, and asked of the tankers: "Break down?"
"No", one of the tankers replied, "out of gas".
Ok, said the Ukrainian, "Can I tow you back to Russia?"
    and
They all had a good laugh, exchanged some pleasantries, and the Ukrainian went on about his business.

    as/re #166

For want of a nail, the shoe was lost
for want of the shoe, the horse was lost
for want of the horse, the battle was lost
for want of the battle, the war was lost
for want of the war, the country was lost

    brave soldiers are needed
    and so is good logistics.

Russia, attacking on several fronts at the same time has created a logistical nightmare.

...and really we have little idea how the West is responding militarily to this extraordinary move by Putin. Once those launch pads are activated (put on alert) all sorts of protocols and automated systems in the West will be coming on line, no doubt...

I heard that Putin accumulated a wealth of about 40b USD,
but most Russians are poor, many people die in winter, frozen to dealth,
not even have money to buy bread.
    Is that true?

Here, take these seeds so something will grow, after you die here.

    Neither, I suspect.

Many right wingers are hoping for an ugly defeat of Ukraine. This makes Biden look impotent and clueless, and makes Putin (who is strongly supported by Trump and several other prominent right wingers) look good. This makes them happy. Many of them prefer powerful, unstoppable autocrats to messy democracies; witness Trump's support of Putin, Kim Jong Un and Ergodan.

His position merely aligns him with those people.

I do not think Putin will use nuclear bomb to end the war, the whole world will condemn him.

When you use nuclear weapons you cannot occupy a country. The radiation is just as deadly to the occupier as it is to the native population.

Putin's intentions are much more sinister. He is going to take the lid of the Chernobyl nuclear plant and just spoil half of Ukraine for all living things .

    What is Chernobyl?

If Putin cannot win nobody wins and everybody dies.
The true mark of a psychopath.

    You don't get it.
The Russian nukes ain't for Ukraine.
The Russian nukes are for us, and nato.
It's Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin's way of saying, as/re the potential of the us and nato attacking Russia: "Don't even think about it!"

    .........................................
(but, than again, I could be wrong?)
