I understand what they say but one has to read between the lines to "get it"... which is... people really seekin God are on a fools errand.!!!

Funny how the people who "believe" get to ignore what the scriptures actually say and get to reinterpret what they actually say to get out of the many contradictions in them.

How do you recommend that someone who doesn't believe should take the many contradictions?

Thanks God you go there, because you will suffer less in hell than in heaven.
Sinners will experience extreme disgrace if they are allowed to enter heaven.

 

Go and buy a Study Bible, and read it with humble prayer.

I have read that bible cover to cover.
Have you read the bible cover to cover?
Or like so many folk do you select only the "good" bits?
Be honest with me please.
I honestly believe if you read it cover to cover you would not be a believer as common sence would cause you to observe it is inconsistent and rather out of touch with acceptable standards of our current era.
Now if you want to believe in a God that is one thing but to think the bible offers reasonable answers is another thing altogether.
I dare you to read it cover to cover and maintain your position.
I double dare you.
You tell me to read it I have and I know you probably have not.
How can you hold it up as your teachings if you have not read it.
Now I have sections of the bible I like, indeed live by but I can't say that very much of it is coherent and if you read relevations you ask is this written by someone with a sound mind... I feel sorry for folk who have been conned to believe the bible is the word of God..if it is then one could only question the motives and goodwill of this entity.
Read it.
Just read it cover to cover.

You are making this up.
Where did you get the idea there is a real place called hell.
Show me where in the scriptures the bible anywhere where you found this idea.
Read the thread I opened..."Evidence of Hell" read all the posts by knowledgeable and well informed members...or just ignore the truth.
Can you handle the truth?
Is the truth important to you or are you content to lie to yourself... Now that must be the worst sin of all.

I am sorry to be so confronting I don't mean to be.
I hope you find the truth start with asking who told you hell was real..and ask why did that person be so cruel to you to cause you unnecessary fear.
Not nice thing to frighten folk with something that has no basis...
See if you can find anything about hell in the bible when you read it for the first time.

That doesn't really answer any questions. If anything, you're making your case for your particular god even worse.

How are we supposed to deal with the many inconsistencies in the Bible? How are we supposed to deal with the fact that it supports things that are grossly immoral now, like slavery?

 

None of that is true, why are you lying to us and yourself?

 

I know this probably won't matter. But I just wanted to point out that most Christian beliefs are a plagiarized version of paganism.

 

That's what turned me into an atheist - actually studying the bible.

 

Really doesn't matter, most of it is crap.

 

Yes i am one who will go to hell... but are you pleased that i will not suffer as much as i woud in heaven.???

 

See good things do come from studying the bible.
