What reason do you have for asking these questions? Is this just curiousity on your part, or is this closer to home than meets the eye?

Pornography ranges from rather realistic, to completely artificial. But, all it really is, despite any of that, is a fantasy. If people expect that fantasy to be real life, then they're in for a rather depressing love/sex life. No, maybe scratch the love part, and just keep the sex.
I believe it's harder for women to live up to the "standards" set by porn, simply because, as I already illustrated, women really do have to worry about their looks more than men.
Look at the stereotype (not entirely true or untrue) propounded and perpetuated by a rather popular TV show (I guess depending on what country you live in!) called Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, where the straight guys are disheveled, messy, unorganized, and totally inept when it comes to fashion or class. In a way, many men are like that. Men are allowed to be like that. They're allowed to be slobs. They're allowed to have beer-guts.

When it comes to the woman, she is expected to be clean, immaculate, and ever ready to entertain the man. Women, in general, have higher standards of beauty, and more baggage that comes with it.
That again, is a stereotype that isn't always true.

In pornography, the image and idea of a woman as the pristine, plastic plaything may be taken to absurd heights. I guess it depends on the actual content.

Whether that ruins your life, I suppose, depends on your gullibility. I alluded in one post to the man's expectations of the perfect woman as being a "fake fake fake fake fake farce fake fake fake fake..." That had a double-meaning. First of all, I was stating the obvious, that his expectations of the ideal woman were based on a stereotype which demands many artificial and difficult-to-maintain standards. Secondly, I was referring to the over-the-top nature of his spiel, and how unreal it all seemed. I was both implying his utter idiocy, and also the fact that it may have been little more than a kind of joke. It really did come across to me as being too stupid to believe.

He implied that all men march to his tune with this statement:
Do not hope that a guy will be in awe of your cello playing, your VP title, or your cute apartment.

I promise you he won't care. Don't kid yourself into thinking he will.

Presumptuous and unrealistic, to say the least. It seems that overweight persons tend to be attracted to overweight persons. So his promise that the 300 pound man will overlook the 300 pound woman seems to be broken from the get-go.
