Seeing BD without a helmet is almost as moving than seeing him without a leg... Comic strip authors take these characters seriously, and carefully tend the little 'quirks' that define each character. BD's been a big figure in Doonesbury for decade, and to have him lose his leg - that is, to have the war in Iraq permanently mark a long-running character - is huge. :m: Peace.
