Mmmm, maybe I'm off. I've definitely read about ship mounted rail guns, with magnets and everything. They may have just been experimental, though. Anyway, ships still employ canons, which are cheaper than using missiles I think. Lb for lb of exploding stuff, anyway. They probably use satellites or spy planes to aim with. Here's a picture of a US ship firing canons: huge ass picture
I know about lord FSM (may red sauce be upon him), don't patronize me! The point is though correlation does not mean causality if you can show a mechanism for causality and prove the mechanism scientifically you can assume causality. Roman, Almost all of today's cruisers, destroyers, frigates, corvettes have (usually just one) autocannon between 50-150mm, railguns are still experimental and to knowledge have not ever been mounted to a ship yet, rocket assisted smart and GPS guided rounds have only come on line in the last few years.
This leads to one of the pit falls of philosophy where nothing is know for sure, anything and everything can be denied: prove me wrong, you don't exist, nothing exists, it all just an illusion orchestrate by [deity of your choice]. But for normal proposes we trust scientific results as long as theory make for predicable result, true it could just be a illusion but at least we have a model for how things work in that illusion.
Well I tire of people using the old pirate vs warming excuse against anthropogenic climate change, you can't arguing against its logic, you can argue (a losing argument) against the evidence for causation but you can't arguing against correlation, we are beyond that already and have the mechanism and model for causation, so stop talking about the flaws of correlation already!
I saw an article about them once and if I recall it was saying that the rail guns were going to be more useful against fast moving incoming objects as a primary weapon for defense.
I suggest: 1. Stop funding their neighbors to destabilize their societies 2. Stop arming extremist groups 3. Stop destroying their economy by conditional aid. I would suggest that a per capita annual income of $6000 would be sufficient to stop piracy in Somalian waters
Kill all the Somalians. Kill all the Ethiopians Kill all the Kenyans Kill all the Eriterians That should be easier. And more permanent. Dead people don't worry about survival. Or get desperate.
Not really, the genocide in Somalia is going pretty well, its also spread to Ethiopia, where Ethiopians of Somalian origin have been massacred. I'm sure a healthy injection of arms and money will take care of the rest
Sure, it hasn't stopped anyone before. Just takes a little more collateral damages to get the job done. Besides who really cares if the Africans live or die? Its not like they will have any impact on the rest of the world anyway.
Nothing. Piracy should be encouraged. I hope these pirates cause as much disruption as possible to trade, oil prices etc. The world needs more people willing to take matters into their own hands, this is the only way to address the imbalance in our World. If you are treated unfairly and taken advantage of, make a fuss about it, let people know there are consequences for their actions.
Assuming your apathy is genuine than sure why not, there are a lot of people that care, they are just not in a position to do anything about it. At present the outcome is that the UN will continue to do what it is doing, which is basically nothing, we can hope the new god/eer I mean president obama while verify if the USA is selling arms and would cut that out, but that is the best we can expect. Ghost_007, For some reason I like that reply, it makes for a good video game.
lol Go ahead and try, I guess. If you are treated unfairly, it's because you're too weak and worthless to be treated fairly.
