It is definetly photoshopped. The lighting is all wrong on on Kirk and Bush. Them two look weird.

What a waste of a photoshop.
I suppose the next masterpiece will have a fish photoshopped into some water.
I'll be struggling to hold my sides in if they go there.

    It's probably photoshopped.

No, the lighting is correct. The sun shines in from the left of the picture, and leaves the right side in shadow. This agrees with the lighting on them.

something looks wrong, though. I just can't place it. Bush and that other guy look almost 2-dimensional. And their color is wrong. The perspective looks almost like they were shot from in front, and just above. However, the helicopter looks like it would have a slightly different angle.

What I'm really saying is that, for how close up the people are, they are too small, and the helicopter is too close.

    It was definately photoshopped.

I dont reckon its photoshopped. They look wierd because of the artificial lighting shining on them from the front for the tv cameras.

I think I know what it is. Bush and Kirk (whoever that is) looked "cropped" or something. The line between them and the grass around them looks too sharp.

Also, the helicopter is lit on the far side, somewhat off to the left judging from the shadows and the thin lit parts around the helicopter's front end. But Bush and Kirk's faces look like they're lit from a point more left than behind.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it just looks so fake for some reason!

The intensity of light and dark is wrong.

Because it is outside, artificial lights have to be shone on the people from the direction of the camera to remove any contrast which, due to the natural light from behind, would darken the image of the people. Its a standard thing for TV. Look closely, you can see the gleam of the spotlight on the bald guys forehead!

It looks wrong because the helicopter, which you'd expect to be bright, is in the shade while Bush and his minion are just about in the light. My opinion is that it is not photoshopped as the cutting of the guys is way too good. The clothing suggests otherwise but you have to pay close attention to the harder parts such as the heads, they're next to perfect. I think it's just a weird looking picture due to the light.

For an amatuer editor the cutting is too good. For a whitehouse press photography editor, I would be more skeptical. But I don't think the people were photoshopped in. I think the photo's color, tints. and shades were heavily enchanced.

The composition of the image is also unorthodox for its subject. The whole podium isn't shown, and something as important as the president isn't the set in the middle of the image. The pres is positioned in the extreme front, no grass is shown in front of it to give a point of reference that the podium and people are standing on the grass - the image allow your mind to think they are floating. The helicopter is the main focus of the photo.

The contrast of the image appears to have been turned up. The shadows seem filled in, and the tints of the people's clothing are emphasized to bring your focus away from the helicopter (the reflections/shininess of the helicopter has also been de-emphasized).

an>roid.v2's tampering with the photo shows that. His reddened photo shows the helicopter as much more shiny, like a waxed, new paint job should look like. The whitehouse's photo makes the helicopter's paintjob more opaque, like a black hole not reflecting the huge amount of sun light (and camera spot lights) that are in the photo. The shadow's in an>roid.v2's photo are also more realistic, you can see the texture of the blades of grass. The textures are muted in the whitehouse's photo, most evident in the shadows.

The grass's color is obviously altered, and with its constrast turned up, it gives the lawn a fuller appearance.

Like an>roid.v2 said, the photographer probably fucked up with his/her camera settings so the photo turned out reddish, ultimately color corrected on the computer.

If someone could make an animated gif switching an>roid.v2's photo with the whitehouse's photo, you'll see the corrections, most obvious are the reflections on the helicopter's paint.
