    Sveiks nrds,

    I'm only patriotic when it comes to my homeLAND not government or people. I just love the seaside over here and the pine forests, you kjnow what I mean. I like living here, but I don't like the living conditions

    My sister lives in UK also and for the same reason as you. I plan to go to unversity for not to go to army here, if I don't succeed you may have a new neighbour. And if Russia decides to attack of course I'm not staying here. We don't have a chance against it and I'm not suicidal.
    I think that tht flag misguided you

    I just feel the historical link with my country and wouldn't like to live anywhere else, but if such conditions are met that it is really better to leave, I won't hesitate.

    Labas Andriau,
    Pine forests mmmm.... Definetely the thing I most miss. Also there was a big lake (caused by a dam) near my home city (Kaunas), it was 10 mins by bus from my home. A beach surrounded by beautiful forests. You could go every sunny summer day and bathe. It's like paradise.
    I wish I could find a city in UK, where you have a beach, a forest and a large (>400,000) city. You can forget about forests in England...
    Where does your sister live?
    I didn't get a chance to see Eurovision, so I can't comment. Apparently as far as I heard, BBC commentator was talking shit -- apparently we were giving points to you because are neighbors...
    Certainly everybody misses their homeland... It's like food cooked by ones mother - Whatever you get in childhood is perfect, and you compare later in life everything to it.
    I just can't look at people who relate to _countries_. I feel Latvia, Poland to be nearly as much homeland as Lithuania is.
    I learned to look at a person no matter what country he is from. I wouldn't give preference to a Lithuanian.

    IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.

    Isn't this what the Native Americans said when the Europeans arrived? Oh yeah, it was the other way around... huh? Are the Native peoples of North America/South America Patriotic?

    I don't have a problem with patriotism in general. What I do have beef with is blind patriotism, i.e. proclaiming God Bless America and crap like that. Helloo, not everyone believes in one (1) God. I thought this country was supposed to be a cultural melting pot. It insinuates that either you are devoted to God or you're not a true American, and that is not right. One nation under God, my eye. One nation under their own influence.

    You want patriotism?

    My flag is bigger than your flag.

    That's patriotism for you.

    XEV, that is incorrect. Most definitely NOT Latvia's national anthem, no idea where you got that shit from...

    Dievs, svçtî Latviju,
    Mûs' dârgo tçviju,
    Svçtî jel Latviju,
    Ak, svçtî jel to!

    Kur latvju meitas zied,
    Kur latvju dçli dzied,
    Laid mums tur laimç diet,
    Mûs' Latvijâ!

    Singapore's national anthem is quite interesting, seeing as it is officially in 4 languages (while it may have been translated into more, there are official words for 4) because Singapore is supposedly quadrilingual if one doesn't recognise that there is more than one Sinitic language (IE Cantonese, Mandarin, Minnan, etc. instead of just "Chinese", however they're all written essentially the same way...)

    So, here I give you the national anthem of Singapore, first in English, then in Chinese, then in Malay, then in Tamil (it will be quite agonising, I think):

    </body>
    </html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=gb2312">
    </head>
    <body>

    English:

    English Words
    Come, fellow Singaporeans,
    Let us progress towards happiness together.
    May our noble aspiration bring
    Singapore success.

    Come, let us unite
    In a new spirit.
    Let our voices soar as one.
    Onward Singapore!

    (repeat)

    Chinese:

    À´°É£¬Ð¼ÓÆÂÈËÃñ£¬
    ÈÃÎÒÃǹ²Í¬ÏòÐÒ¸£Âõ½ø£»
    ÎÒÃdzç¸ßµÄÀíÏ룬

    ÍŽáÔÚÒ»Æð£»
    ÎÒÃÇÆëÉù»¶ºô£º
    Ç°½ø°É£¬Ð¼ÓÆ£¡

    (repeat)

    Malay:

    Mari kita rakyat Singapura,
    Sama-sama menuju bahagia,
    Cita-cita kita yang mulia,
    Berjaya Singapura.

    Marilah kita bersatu,
    Dengan semangat yang baru,
    Semua kita berseru,
    Majulah Singapura!

    (repeat)
