It's a matter of interpretation, I'd say... For the term "save", we merely choose to insert "Administer prolonged, excruciating euthenasia", thus saving the poor blind senseless thing from itself ! On the other hand, if it required the measure of reducing the human popultation to some extent in order to rejuvinate the old gal, I'd say you're a prime candidate to volunteer for immediate "martyrdom" for the cause of saving - *ahem* - "our mommy nature".
