One point concerning "Angles, Saxons, and Jutes":

In fact, if you go to Youtube and watch "The Story of English", Episode 2: "The Mother Tongue", Part 7/7 (from the beginning), you'll see a performance of a play, and, although it's pre-vowel shift, it's still, quite obviously, Early Modern English, not Middle English.
