    QOTSA and other notes

QOTSA has been around for a few years. Their recent fame has come from the solidifying of a changing lineup, including the addition of Dave Grohl, and also the hard-to-deny "Feelgood Hit of the Summer".

Those who like QOTSA are recommended to check out the band Kyuss, a band which predates QOTSA, and involves two members of QOTSA.

In the past, Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Wellwater Conspiracy) played drums for QOTSA. Josh Homme (QOTSA, Kyuss) played many live shows with the Screaming Trees in support of the album Dust.

Anything beyond that would be a little reckless a recollection.

    However, playing today:

    • Tanita Tikaram - Lovers in the City
    • Robin Hitchcock & the Egyptians - Globe of Frogs
    • Karin Kajita & Yvonne Cannon - Summerland
    • Beach Boys - Smile--unofficial; the real album has never been released, though the number of high-quality underground productions prompted Brian Wilson to tell his fans through his website that he would give them Smile before he left the planet; 35 years late (and counting), the album will still be well ahead of the current state of pop music and rock and roll. Those close to Mr. Wilson are starting to get excited, and musicians including Elvis Costello and Rufus Wainwright, among others, have spoken in support of Brian Wilson in recent years, helping fuel the new interest in the ne'er-released, seldom-heard, officially incomplete album. (Material from Smile was included on Smiley-Smile, but ... the difference will be astounding. It already is.)

    thanx,
    Tiassa

    QOTSA

If you go to the QOTSA homepage, you'll find the family tree option among the top links.

That's the best way to get a sense of who and what goes into Queens of the Stone Age. (It's a Flash page, so be warned).

    thanx,
    Tiassa

Did you see "Journey of Man"? I saw it at the Science Centre, on the dome theatre, so it was all around us. Front row too

They've also got a show out now, "Verequai (sp?): Fire Within", and it depicts the coming together of and performances of CdS. Have you seen it?

    Stand in the Fire (1978)
    Life'll Kill Ya (2000)

Three inspired works (among many) from an amazing and courageous artist waging his final battle with the "Big C."

"AOL" means "yeah, I agree with" or "yeah, same as what he said" in this context.

    Addicted? To Nietzsche? Moi?
